JOB SUMMARY
Supports VERGE clients in job searching and placement. Establishes and maintains working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment opportunities for clients. Evaluates clients' background, skills, and interests to match potential job openings or training programs. Coaches and prepares clients for job interviews and prepares client specific resumes for job search activies. VERGE asks that applicants have 2 to 4 years of related experience (workforce, customer service, sales, etc.) Starting wage range for this position is between $38,000 and $43,000 annually.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Initiates and maintains ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business/industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement.
- Makes cold calls to potential employers, marketing programmatic benefits and employment support services to employers, including addressing employer’s specific needs.
- Researches Internet, newspapers, agencies, and other resources for job leads.
- Collects data from employers related to job orders including job requirements and skills in order to match job skills with applicant qualifications.
- Refers qualified applicants to employers and conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions.
- Participates in outreach and job development activities by coordinating and attending job fairs.
- Facilitates workshops that include subjects such as: job seeking, application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills and attitudes;
- Coordinates interviews and provides clients with relevant labor market and community resource information.
- Monitors participant work performance and works with participants and employers to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills.
- Prepares forms and reports related to placement activities, while tracking participant activity and progress data.
- Identifies and coordinates WEP (Work Experience Program) training sites for program participants that can lead to permanent, unsubsidized employment.
